Kevin started at Zensurance on January 2nd, 2017 as our first technical hire and Fullstack Developer.

Before joining Zensurance, Kevin spent time at IBM where he worked on DB2 PureScale, specializing in network failures, and high availability features. After graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Computer Science and Philosophy he helped found a startup that focused on automated sports highlights.

Now-a-days Kevin is our Head of Engineering. Kevin's main responsibility is to ensure our engineering team is engaged, empowered, and running effectively as well as recruitment, training, culture, product, and strategy. In his free time Kevin plays guitar, camps, and runs his virtual reality arcade DiVRge.

What are your thoughts on leadership?

I believe in a values-based leadership approach. Decisions should be made by those with the most context on the situation. As a company we've agreed on values that describe what facets and tradeoffs are important to Zensurance as a whole. These values enable individual ownership over work, and empower anyone at Zensurance to make quick and accurate decisions in line with our values and trust that others will do the same.

Why do you like working at Zensurance?

Many members at Zensurance possess the entrepreneurial spirit. We are a culture of hackers and doers who love to create value through tech. We hire people who are passionate and talented and let them do their thing.
